How does Direct Debit work?

Your customer (also known as the remitter or payer) signs a Direct Debit Instruction form, or via online confirmation method to allow you to debit from his/her account, the amount specified and on a predetermined date.


You can then initiate the collection by sending us an electronic Direct Debit Instruction (DDI) file via DBS IDEAL (file exchange) or via IDEAL Connect containing the remitter / payer’s account information and the deduction amount. This will be sent out for clearing through Guangzhou UMS.
 

May I apply for Direct Debit Instruction (DDI) services in foreign currencies?

No. DDI services are only available for collections in CNY.

How do I change my originating account and direct debit details?

We can help you make the changes on your behalf. Simply provide us with the following information:

  • Your originating account number
  • Your originating bank account name
  • DDI reference
Is there a fee for each transaction?

What is the cut-off time?

The DDI file needs to be uploaded to DBS IDEAL by 3pm on a working day, otherwise the collection will be processed the next working day.
