What is a social enterprise?

A social enterprise is a business with a social purpose that has – or is striving towards – a commercially sustainable business model and delivers social impact to the chosen social cause.
This business must have a clearly defined social mission with social benefits as the primary objective of its establishment. For example, the business provides products or services to promote environmental protections, to create job opportunities to disadvantaged populations, or to plough bank benefits to disadvantaged populations. A social enterprise typically undertakes commercial activities (for profit) to generate revenues and earn profits so that there would be lasting social impact.
